Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim has suggested the military be deployed at all polling stations and should remain there until results are revealed. A gathering chaired by CEC and attended by federal secretaries was held to devise a strategy for the next elections.
The ECP asked safety agencies for recommendations to sustain law and order during the elections. Ibrahim said safety was the only issue for the next elections and if law and order was managed there’s no reason why the elections wouldn’t be free and fair. He added that in the past people had concerns regarding the transparency of the elections and it was everyone’s constitutional duty to follow by the law.
The CEC more said the only path of a parliamentary democracy was elections and the military chief had assured his assistance during the electoral process.
