The prosecutor in the high-treason case of ex- President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf has claimed being threatened by a defence lawyer in the case. Arguing in his defence against questions raised over the prosecutor’s appointment in the case, Akram Sheikh stated he had received threats of his eyes being gouged out and tongue being ripped by Musharraf’s attorney Akhtar Shah.
As per Akram Sheikh, the FIA had written a letter to the Law Ministry for a prosecutor in the case and suggested 4 names. Akram Sheikh said personally, he was neither faithful to Nawaz Sharif nor an opponent of Musharraf. Akram Sheikh said that there were no constitutional or legal issues in the notification of the prosecutor’s appointment.
The prosecutor said that as per his experience this was a case which should be done within 8 to 10 days. The verdict over objections regarding the prosecutor has been reserved and the hearing of the case adjourned till the next day (Thursday).
