Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar are the only 2 Indian batsmen on the list of top 10 in Tests ratings while Younis Khan jumped 11 spots to claim the 5th place in the most recent ICC rankings presented here on yesterday.
Younis Khan has charged up the ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen after his double hundred set up an innings and 184 run glory for Pakistan in the initial Test against Bangladesh. Sachin is 7th while Dravid in 9th in the list which is led by Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara. Jacques Kallis is 2nd and is followed by England pair, Alastair Cook and Ian Bell. The bowlers’ list is headed by South Africa’s fast bowler Dale Steyn along with England’s James Anderson 2nd and Morne Morkel of South Africa 3rd.
On the other hand, South Africa and Sri Lanka go face to face in the 3 Test series at Centurion from Thursday with both the teams eyeing upward movements. South Africa presently sits in 3rd position on 116 rankings points, one behind India, while Sri Lanka is in 5th spot, 17 rankings points behind.
If SA wins the series by 2-0 or better, it could leapfrog India into 2nd place, while Sri Lanka’s success by 1-0 or better might put it ahead of Aussie in 4th place. The sides ranking on the Championship table will mainly is based on how the India-Australia series pans out.
