Ex- Pakistan chief Waqar Younis asked for the PCB to have more power, including a proper say in the selection issues if he becomes the coach of the national cricket team. The PCB will not be renewing present national team head coach Dav Whatmore’s agreement that expires before the Asia Cup in late February next year.
The PCB had said that Whatmore wouldn’t be looking for an extension in the job due to personal issues. His last task along with Pakistan will be the upcoming Sri Lanka series in the UAE in December. Waqar Younis is a top competitor to replace Whatmore as head coach when the Australian’s contract expires in February saharasamay.com quoted a PCB source as saying.
It’s been learnt that talks in this regard had been held with Waqar Younis and the PCB Chairman Najam Sethi recently in Lahore and Dubai about a possible job for him with the national team.
