Ex- India skipper Sunil Gavaskar thinks Virat Kohli is the future of Indian cricket and he is ready to take up the captaincy role from incumbent MS Dhoni in the aftermath of the series defeat against English team.
England broke the 28-year-old jinx by beating India 2-1 verdict in the Test series after the 4th and last game ended in a draw here today.
Gavaskar mentioned it is time the national selectors look to the future as Dhoni looked out of sorts in this series.
“Till the 4th day of this Test I said there’s no option to MS Dhoni, but now that Virat has come up with a 100 under trying conditions I feel he’s found an excellent part about himself. I believe he’s ready to take on the mantle,” the ex- India captain said.
Sunil Gavaskar also criticized the Indian team for the embarrassing defeat but Dhoni’s name came up for special mention for his average and lazy captaincy in this series.
