Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq urges PCB to revive PSL plans

Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq urged PCB chiefs to revive plans for an IPL-style T20 team to get his cricketers sharp for international competition. Misbah, who leads the team in Tests and ODIs, is worried his guys are losing their edge because they’re not regularly playing the world’s best in the shortest format.

Pakistani cricketers don’t take part in the annual IPL and the country has hosted no international matches since militants attacked the Sri Lankan squad’s bus in Lahore in 2009. The PCB planned to host a Pakistan Super League in March and April to try to attract overseas cricketers but had to shelve the idea indefinitely, claiming it wanted to give sponsors additional time to come forward.

Misbah-ul-Haq said Pakistan must stage the T20 league, either at home or at a neutral location. Pakistani cricketers including Misbah-ul-Haq featured in the first edition of the IPL but were since not allowed to play after relations between the 2 countries became strained in the wake of the Mumbai attacks in 2008.
