Shane Warne was John Buchanan’s ‘puppet’ says Michael Hussey

Shane WarneAustralian spinner Shane Warne has been exposed to be a ‘puppet’ of ex- coach John Buchanan, whom Warne publicly detested during his playing days, in an interview with Michael Hussey, to an Australian news channel.

Hussey disclosed that Warne’s strings were pulled by Buchanan in several ways, adding that he was bowled over by the way Buchanan talked to and treated Warne or tried to encourage him. As per Hussey, Buchanan would challenge Warne with things that were a little bit left-field, nearly getting into a spat with him, which so fired up the spin great that he went out to the field and done in his own way, just to show his coach wrong.

In a memorable episode in 2007, Warne called Buchanan a “goose” and stated cricketers had to put up with his “verbal diarrhoea” during his 9 years in charge of the Aussie team. Buchanan and Shane Warne had never got along as the coach was all about structure, analysis and laptops, while Warne was about guile, instinct and gut feel, the report added.
