Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has been reported for an alleged illegal bowling action during his team`s seven-wicket loss in the initial Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium Sunday.
The off-spinner must undergo testing within a 3 week period, an ICC media report said Monday. The match officials’ report, which was handed over to Pakistan team manager Moin Khan Sunday, cited issues over a number of deliveries that were thought to be suspect and concluded that the bowler’s action needed to be tested.
Saeed Ajmal’s bowling action will now be scrutinized further under the ICC process associated with suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He needs to undergo testing within a 3 week period, and, during this phase, Saeed Ajmal is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.
