Runako Morton dies in road accident

Ex- West Indies cricketer Runako Morton has been killed in a vehicle mishap in Trinidad & Tobago. As per reports, the car in which Morton was going lost control and hit a pole, killing him instantly.

Runako Morton, who was 33, played 15 Test games, 56 ODIs and 7 T20s for West Indies. He made his ODI debut in 2002 and his Test debut 3 years later. He last played for West Indies in Feb 2010, in a T20 against Australia.

Runako also represented Trinidad & Tobago, Leeward Islands and Nevis. In a first class career spanning almost 17 yrs, Morton scored 5980 runs at an average of 39.60. He’d received a recall to the West Indies team in ’09 after a successful regional season where he scored 1010 runs at 56.11 in the 4 day contest.

Chris Gayle, who was the skipper of West Indies in the last T20 and ODI that Morton plaued, mentioned his condolences on Twitter.
