Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapakse has given a green signal for his cricket team to tour Pakistan. As per media reports, president Mahinda Rajapakse told media that they’re prepared to send the Sri Lankan cricket team to Pakistan, but it’s up to the boards of both the nations to decide the schedules and other details for a tour.
Rajapakse reportedly said that links between both Sri Lanka and Pakistan and their respective boards have always been superb, however because of a bad episode no international cricket has halted in Pakistan and that Sri Lanka is sad about this. “We are able to make the effort in this and will be pleased if international cricket resumes in Pakistan,” Anjum quoted Rajapakse.
The Sri Lankan cricket squad came under assault from militants as their bus made its way to the cricket ground in Lahore for the 3rd day of a Test match. At least 8 citizens were killed in the attack and 6 Sri Lankan cricketers were injured.
