English batsman Kevin Pietersen moved up in the ICC rankings for batsmen after his knock of 149 in the 1st innings of the 2nd Leeds Test against South Africa at Headingley.
“Kevin Pietersen jumps 7 spots to 10th in the ICC Test Rankings for batsmen,” the ICC informed on Twitter. Pietersen led England’s fightback with his knock of 149, studded with 22 boundaries and a 6, off 214 balls.
Pietersen added 147 runs for the 5th wicket with James Taylor to help England take a slender lead of 6 runs against South Africa. The match ended in a draw. On the other hand, the 32-year-old batsman has hinted the 3rd Test at Lord’s could be his last for England.
“I can’t rule out that my next Test may be my last,” he revealed after winning the man of the match award in the drawn 2nd Test at Headingley.
