Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi was forced to call off his scheduled media briefing after the PCB asked him to avoid press conference, as per a close aide of the all-rounder.
Shahid Afridi, who came back on Saturday after featuring for Hampshire in the Champions League Twenty20 qualifiers, had planned to hold a talk in Karachi to ‘discuss’ reasons for his bad performance at the World T20.
“Afridi was informed by the PCB not to hold any such press conference. He was reminded about the central contract term, which bars a cricketer from such actions without the board’s approval,” the source said.
“The PCB representatives did it to avoid further controversy in the World T20 fall-out. It’s already unimpressed by all-rounder Abdul Razzaq’s outburst regarding T20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez,” he added.
