Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf, who met the cricketers and team management during a trip to Johannesburg to see the final ODI between Pakistan and South Africa, informed Misbah-UL-Haq that he will be continuing as skipper for the Champions Trophy in England in June and should be prepared for the task.
“Misbah was told before the final match he should not be concerned about his captaincy or place in the team as he would be leading the team in the Champions Trophy and he should just focus on trying to win the one-day series against South Africa,” a source told PTI.
The source revealed that Ashraf had also praised the cricketers for their fight back in the ODI series but made it clear that no player — senior or junior — should take his spot for granted. Ashraf also included that the board was giving them all facilities and rewards, so they were also anticipated to repay with excellent performances.
The source stated that Ashraf had also talked about the appointment of a long term batting advisor and assured the team that the a coach would be named before the Champions Trophy .
