India has retained their 4th place in the ICC Test rankings despite a loss in the 3rd cricket Test against England at Southampton. The five-match series is presently locked at 1-1. After drawing the first Test, India posted a win in the 2nd test at Lord’s but went down in the 3rd. Despite the defeat, MS Dhoni and his team have maintained their 4th place at102 rating points.
The final rankings of both India and England (ranked Fifth with 100 rating points) will highly rely on the forthcoming two-Test series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, which will start in Galle from August 6. Pakistan is presently ranked 3rd along with 103 rating points, just 1 point more than India, while Sri Lanka is in 6th place with 95 points. The five-Test series between India and England will end a day after the series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan finishes, and all the teams would be looking to climb up the ladder.
If India manages to do well in the other 2 Tests and Pakistan lose the Test series against Sri Lanka, the Indians would definitely gain in the ranking table.
