Pakistan beaten Bangladesh by an innings and 184 runs on the penultimate day of the initial Test in Chittagong on today to get a 1-0 lead in the 2 match series. Bangladesh, trailing by 459 runs, were bowled out for 275 in their 2nd innings after resuming at 134-4, with Abdur Rehman finishing with 4 wickets. Abdur Rehman removed Mohammed Nazimuddin (78) and Shakib Al Hasan (51) before Bangladesh, trailing by 459 runs, reached 228/7 in their 2nd innings at lunch break on the penultimate day.The hosts now trail by 231 runs with 3 wickets in hand.

Saeed Ajmal was the other 3 taker in the morning when he bowled Mohammad Mahmudullah for 0 as the hosts added 94 to their yesterday total of 134-4. Nazimuddin was involved in 2 stands, adding 78 for the 5th wicket with Shakib and 47 for the next with skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (34 N-O) before being caught by Saeed Ajmal at mid-off. Nazimuddin, 41 yesterday evening, hit 2 sixes and 9 fours in his innings. Bangladesh had added just 24 runs to their yesterday evening total when Shakib was LBW by Abdur Rehman after hitting 8 fours in his 9th Test half-century.

Pakistan on Sunday posted a massive 594-5 declared in their initial innings in respond to Bangladesh’s 135, with Younis Khan (200 N-O), Mohammad Hafeez (143) and Asad Shafiq (104) being the major scorers.The 2nd and last Test begins in Dhaka on Saturday.
