Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has been selected as the Overseas Test Player of the Year by The Cricketer magazine in its yearly awards. Misbah took the prestigious honor after scoring 632 runs in 6 Test games at an average of 90.28 over the past 1 year, combining excellent individual form with expert and command as the new skipper of a young Pakistan team.
And in a big surprise selection he’s joined in the magazine’s Test Team of the Year by left arm spinner Abdur Rehman, who took 29 wickets at 31.82 over the same 6 Test matches. The Cricketer awards are considering average marks out of 10 awarded by the magazine’s authors who covered all Tests in the period. Misbah-ul-Haq averaged 7.33 out of a possible 10, while Abdur Rehman surprised with a score of 6.83, putting him in front of international spin bowling opponents Harbhajan Singh (6.58) and Graeme Swann (6.17).
