Pakistan’s contracted cricketers are set to get a pay increase of approximately 25 to 35 % from their board (PCB) when the new central contracts list is released. “Intikhab Alam has been given the task of suggesting a rise in pay scale keeping in mind cricketers performances and also the Board’s economic position. He has tentatively suggested a rise of 25 to 35 percent.
The great news for the cricketers is that not only will they get pay increase in their central contracts but also in their present match premiums paid out on slab system. “The pay increase will surely be incorporated in the central contracts but there’re 90 % possibilities of this happening in the match payments as well,” the official said. He says Intikhab would shortly send his suggestions to the PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, who’ll give the final approval.
“The matter has already been officially discussed in the governing council gathering where the feeling was that after 3 years, the cricketers deserve a pay raise,” the source added.Pakistani cricketers are paid out monthly pays in range of 250,000, 175,000 and 125,000 in their central contracts given in three groups while the senior-most player receives close to 350,000 and 300,000 as Test game and ODI payments.
