National selectors recalls Khurram Manzoor for Zimbabwe tour

27-year-old opening batsman Khurram Manzoor was recalled to the Test team. Manzoor was shockingly dropped after scoring a fantastic 77 in the last of his 7 Tests, against Australia in 2010. He didn’t break into the national squad despite scoring heavily in domestic games.

Khurram Manzoor replaced opener Nasir Jamshed, who managed just 51 runs in Pakistan’s 3-0 whitewash against world Number One Test team South Africa in the away series a few months ago. There are no surprises in the 3 squads except uncapped middle order batsman Sohaib Maqsood. Saeed Ajmal, Junaid Khan and T20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez made it to all the 3 forms. The aim is to keep him fresh for the series against South Africa in the UAE later in the year.

All-rounder Anwar Ali is the only change in the ODI team which beat the West Indies 3-1 last month, replacing Wahab Riaz. Wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal also returned to the Test team after losing his spot to Sarfraz Ahmed on the South Africa tour. Former skipper Moin Khan was hired manager of the team after the resignation of Naveed Chema.
