Mushtaq Ahmed appointed as Pakistan bowling coach

The PCB has hired ex- leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as a bowling coach. Mushtaq Ahmed, who recently held a similar role with the England and Wales Cricket Board, signed an on Monday.


New head coach Waqar Younis, who has succeeded Australian Dav Whatmore and appointed on a two-year agreement, accepted Mushtaq Ahmed’s arrival – after the PCB coach selection committee’s suggestion. The PCB confirmed erstwhile off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who was connected with the Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier this year, had been shortlisted for the vacancy.

Waqar Younis and Mushtaq Ahmed’s initial job will bring a one-off T20 International, three ODIs and 2 Tests. The ICC World Cup 2015 campaign in Australia, where Pakistan have been pooled with India, West Indies, Zimbabwe, UAE, South Africa and Ireland, will also be high on the agenda.
