The PCB put paid to all rumors about Misbah-ul-Haq being replaced as skipper of the ODI team when its Chairman, Najam Sethi made it clear that the senior batsman would continue at the helm due to his amazing record.
“Misbah has the better record compared to others so he will continue to remain the captain,” Najam Sethi told journalists in Dhaka when asked about rumors that the PCB was planning to change the skipper for the 2015 World Cup. But Najam Sethi backed Misbah-ul-Haq, saying he had done a decent job of handling the team in difficult times for Pakistan cricket.
Rumors have been rife that the current team administration are more in favor of having Shahid Afridi as skipper of the ODI team before the next international assignments of the team which will be from October when PCB hosts Australia in the UAE.
“Yes there has been talk that Afridi could be a better choice because of his more pro-active captaincy,” one source said.
