Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been criticized by his nations cricket administrators over the way he managed his surprise retirement from the Test cricket. Lasith Malinga shocked Sri Lanka on yesterday by quitting Test cricket in a bid to extend his cricket career in ODIs and T20 games.
Chief selector Duleep Mendis hit out at Malinga’s handling of the statement, expressing he’d not told them of his final decision. Mendis tells the paceman should have talked about his retirement programs with them first.
Malinga is in best form for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and most recently made himself not available for Sri Lanka’s Test series against England. Malinga tells he is had a long-standing degenerative problem in his right knee and tells continuing in the extended type of the cricket could lead to long term problem.
