Jonathan Trott and Virat Kohli were engaged in a verbal duel during the 4th day of the last Test between India and England here on Saturday.
Jonathan, batting at 43 in English team’s 2nd innings total of 123 for 3, wanted to cut a short delivery from Ishant Sharma which was taken behind by MS Dhoni who threw it up high in the air in delight only to view his claim and that of other associates refused by umpire Kumar Dharmasena.
Right after Dharmasena turning down the optimistic appeal, Kohli ran up to the batsman for an exchange of words after which square leg umpire Rod Tucker called Dhoni and talked to him. It wasn’t clear from Television replays whether Trott had edged Sharma or not.
Earlier, skipper Cook had stood his ground when he was declared out caught behind for 13 by Dharmasena and left the field hesitantly after his initial twin-failure in this four-match series. He was out for one in the 1st innings here.
