Kamran Akmal will probably change Ahmad Shehzad as the opening batsman for the WC game against Aussie in Colombo on Mar 19, skipper Shahid Afridi has mentioned.
Pakistan’s plan for the keenly looked forward to match against Aussie will be to perform fighting game, and Afridi thinks that he can improve his side’s batting position by promoting Kamran Akmal up the line up.
Shehzad has flopped in all 5 of his WC tours, and has only 44 runs at an average of under 9. “Shehzad is a good player but he’s not likely learnt from his errors. We’ve been expressing belief in his capabilities but Shehzad did not deliver us just one nice beginning and now we are planning on planning into the game against Australia with a different opening partners, Afridi reveals.
“The smartest choice we’ve is to improve Kamran as an opener. He’s scored a wide range of runs playing at that spot and has the sort of encounter we will require against a high quality bowling team just like Aussie at the beginning of our innings,” he included.
