English batsman Jonathan Trott on yesterday overtaken Vijay Manjrekar in scoring the most number of runs in Test matches without hitting a six.
Jonathan Trott passed Manjrekar here at the Eden Park while scoring 27 before being bowled by Trent Boult in the 3rd and final Test. In total, Trott now has 3,215 runs, 7 more than Manjrekar’s 3,208.
Manjrekar played 55 Tests from 1951 to 1965 scoring 3,208 runs at an average of 39.12. He hit 7 hundreds with a best of 189 not out. Meanwhile, Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott earlier in response to New Zealand’s massive 1st innings total of 443 on the 2nd day of the 3rd and final Test in Auckland. England reached 50-2 at stumps on Day 2.
Nick Compton was batting on 12, along with Ian Bell (6) when the stumps were drawn on the 2nd day. England trail by a further 393 runs.
