Injured Chris Gayle ruled out of ODI series against England

West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has reportedly been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against England due to stiffness in his lower back. The ex- skipper, who has scored 8,743 ODI runs in 255 games, will be changed by his team mate Dwayne Smith in the series, which also includes 3 T20 internationals.

As per a BBC, the West Indies Cricket Board said in a statement that Gayle had precautionary scans and will have medical management and treatment in Jamaica in order to show his fitness for the ICC World T20, which starts in Bangladesh on March 16.

The report pointed out that Chris Gayle has scored 999 runs in 26 ODIs against England, with a best of 132 not out at Lord’s in 2004, as compared to Smith, who has not played an ODI since December 2012.
