Ex-cricketers slam PCB on early World Cup team

Ex – Pakistan cricket players have criticized selection committee on decision of preliminary team for the World Cup.The ex-players have demanded PCB that they must give open and clear reason behind the non-selection of Shoaib Malik and Danish Kaneria. PCB had formed integrity committee to scrutinize the details of the bank accounts and properties of these three players.

PCB integrity committee cleared Kamran Akmal but refused to give NOC on selection of Shoaib Malik and Danish Kanerian and also not issued any reason for their non selection.Former captain Zaheer Abbas has criticized selection committee and asked them to explain that whether Shoaib Malik and Kaneria are involved in match fixing or not. Zaheer also raised issues on selection of experienced batsman Mohammad Yousuf in preliminary squad and said “Yousuf hasn’t played any competitive cricket for long time.

Yousuf is struggling with his form and fitness and he is not match fit. You aren’t sure whether he will be able to play three to four matches on the trot in the world cup.”Zaheer also asked the timing of announcement of squad and said “we all know that the suspended trio is facing ICC independent tribunal hearing in Doha from January 6 and if any of the three players get clearance from the tribunal then how can you bring that player in the world cup squad?”

Ex – middle order batsman Basit Ali also slammed selection committee for non selection of Shoaib Malik and Kaneria and also said that why bowlers like Abdul Rauf and Sohail Khan ignored from the World Cup squad? These players have taken over 50 wickets in the current season and if bowler who took over 50 wickets in domestic season cannot find place in the 30-man squad, then PCB should ban domestic tournaments and cricket.”
