Dhoni receives death threats from Maoists

Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s safety has been beefed up in Jharkhand following intelligence inputs on threats to him from the Maoists, a police official mentioned here on yesterday. MS Dhoni came in Ranchi, his hometown, a week ago with his wife Sakshi.

“We aren’t taking any risks. There’re inputs of threat to Dhoni from the Maoists groups. According to the input we’re taking suitable steps to enhance the security of Dhoni,” a Ranchi based police official, who didn’t want to be named, informed IANS. “We have gotten directives from the police head office to increase Dhoni’s security. Commandos of Jharkhand Armed Police will be deployed in his protection,” the official says.

Security personnel in simple outfits have already been deployed near Dhoni’s residence in Harmu housing colony. They’ll move along with Dhoni within the state. Dhoni is no stranger to getting more police support. In 2007 Maoist groups sent a death threat through the post for MS Dhoni and Rahul Dravid while his residence was guarded following similar pressure in ’09.
