Former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori marked his highly anticipated comeback to the first-class arena by taking 5 wickets but said that the visit of West Indies in December is likely to be too early for him to come back to the national side.
As per Stuff.co.nz, Daniel Vettori, while making great measures in his recovery from a 2nd operation on an Achilles tendon problem, still desires to tread warily for a while yet. He said that he required to do this day in, day out for a long period, adding that he still considers he’s a wee way away from overall physical fitness and conditioning.
Daniel Vettori added that Ish Sodhi did nicely in Bangladesh and the team would like to persevere with him. New Zealand will play 3 tests, the 1st starting on Dec. 3 in Dunedin, 5 ODIs and 2 T20s against the West Indies, the report said. The former skipper said that even before he’d his operation, coach Mike Hesson was attempting to map out this season with him, and even the Indian tour is where he’d start again.
India will start their tour in mid-January, the report said.
