Chris Cairns submits libel suit against Lalit Modi

Ex- New Zealand all rounder Chris Cairns has submitted a libel case against ex- IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, as a hearing is due at the London High Court on Monday.

Lalit Modi, had claimed that he had banned Chris Cairns from taking part in the mega event because of ‘his past record in match-fixing’ on his Twitter profile in 2010.

As per New Zealand press reports, Chris Cairns had registered a libel suit against Lalit Modi which will witness its initial hearing on March 5, 2012 at the London High Court.

Leading lawyer Andrew Caldecott will represent Cairns, while the case will be heard by Justice Sir David Eady who presided over another high-profile libel and privacy measures that involved world motor sport boss Max Mosley and well-known golf player Tiger Woods.
