Afridi skips last ODI, returns home

Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has skipped the 5th and last ODI match against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, scheduled to be held on Friday, and came back home.

The PCB said in a statement that Afridi had been given approval to come back home due to “illness” of his daughter, but reliable sources in the team said that one more reason for him to opt out of the final ODI was because Pakistan have already won the series and he wanted the team management to provide exposure to the youngsters.

Pakistan has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-ODI series over Sri Lanka. The source said Afridi had talked to manager Moin Khan and asked for to be released before the last one-dayer so that he could also return to Karachi to be with his daughter.
