Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has said that he is expecting to return in contention for a place in the national squad after he was selected in the preliminary team for the home series in the UAE against South Africa.
An official said that the PCB selection panel has produced a list of over 50 cricketers for the back-to-back home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka in UAE, which includes Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik. As per the Express Tribune, the official said that the list also included all the present national players as well as leading domestic players.
Saying that he will continue his pursuit of making a comeback into the team, Abdul Razzaq, an experienced of 265 ODIs and 30 T20s, said that he has shown his availability to the selectors for the South Africa series, adding that he is fit and will continue to make an effort to get in the best shape before the series.
However, the official said that Abdul Razzaq would have to undergo an extensive fitness trial to become qualified for selection as the committee hardly has any review about his form and fitness because of his absence from recent domestic tournaments.
