Temporary relief for Salman Khan in 2002 hit-and-run case

In a short term relief to Salman Khan, a Mumbai sessions court on yesterday postponed the hearing of the 2002 hit and run case to April 8.

Salman Khan didn’t appear in individual before the court, as press reports said he’d not received summons. Salman Khan was earlier being tried for fast and irresponsible driving, which carries a highest sentence of 2 yrs.

However, in January this year, the court handling his case accepted that the police has offered proof that merits trying the actor for responsible homicide not amounting to murder, which attracts a punishment of upto 10 years in jail. The magistrate had then sent the issue to the sessions court, as it did not have the authority to hear the case.

On Sept . 28, 2002, Salman Khan ran his Land Cruiser over a roads outside a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing a person and injuring 4 others.
