Superstar Salman Khan Starrer Jai Ho, which was expected to be the superhit flick of 2014, could manage to gross barely over Rs.17crore on its opening day at the domestic box office.
According to trade analysts, comparatively Salman’s previous movies, Jai Ho won’t create any records.
Jai Ho is made on a budget of Rs.75crore and it hits about 4,500 screens in the country and managed to gross only Rs.17.55crore on the opening day.
The trade analyst Rajesh Thadani said; “As per my knowledge, it’s less that Rs.17 crore. The figure is quite low. When Ek Tha Tiger released in 2012, it collected around Rs 30 crore on its opening day.”
Jai Ho is directed by Salman’s brother Sohail Khan and is also starring newcomer Daisy Shah in female lead. Tabu and Danny Denzongpa are also the part of political thriller. The film is a heavy dose of action sequences.
Coincidentally, Salman’s super hits Ek Tha Tiger, Wanted, Dabangg – were all action-packed flicks. And Jai Ho too belongs to the same genre.
Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas says audiences are not so excited about Jai Ho because of the same category again.
“On Friday, the occupancy was just 40% and Saturday was 50%. Sunday’s morning shows were around 80%,” Puneet said.
“Going by the performance, Jai Ho will probably touch Rs100crore in a week, but not in the first three days of its release. Some people from the audience said that it’s repetitive. People are probably fed up of the fact that he is continuously doing action movies,” he added.
Jai Ho was seems to be much awaited and was supposed to be the hit one, but unfortunately it failed to impress the audience. We aren’t sure why.
