The legendary actress, who remained the part of Bengali cinema for a long time, died of a heart attack in Kolkata’s Belle Vue Clinic today. Suchitra Sen was 82.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi mourns the death of legendary actress. He took to twitter and posted; “Suchitra Sen was a fine actress who made a monumental contribution.”
“RIP Suchitra Sen. In her, we have lost a fine actress who leaves behind a monumental contribution to both Hindi and Bengali cinema,” he added.
Suchitra was known popular for her performances in highly acclaimed Bengali films like Deep Jwele Jaai and Uttar Falguni as well as in many Hindi film including Devdas, Mamta and Aandhi.
She was under treatment at the Belle Vue Clnic for the last 26 days following serious respiratory issues and was dependent on oxygen.
Suchitra is survived by her daughter actress Moon Moon Sen and grand-daughters Riya Sen and Raima Sen who are also a part of cinema.
