Actress Juhi Chawla, who plays negative role in recent film Gulaab Gang, is happy that the film has overcome its legal hassles and has finally opened for the public.
Previously, the activist Sampat Pal rushed to Delhi High Court to stop the release of Gulaab Gang, alleging that it is based on her life. She also claimed that some scenes from the movie can affect her reputation.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday cleared the release of Gulaab Gang.
Reportedly, Sampat Pal formed the Gulabi Gang, a group of Pink Saree clad women vigilantes in Utter Pradesh, which resembles to the group in the film.
Juhi said here on Thursday; “I am happy and excited. There was so much build-up and we were looking forward to the film. But yesterday (Wednesday) there was a hiccup and we felt the film would not release.”
She was at the special screening of the film among many other celebrities. She added in her statement; “But I am so glad everything for the moment is settled and the film is in theatres. Hope you (people) will come and watch the film.”
Gulaab Gang was suspended by the high court but the makers of the film filed an appeal and the high court cleared its commercial release.
Gulaab Gang is directed by Soumik Sen.
