Recently someone reported that Humshakals actress Esha Gupta had warned her family not to watch her film as they won’t be able to bear it. But she now says that she was misquoted.
At the premiere of Armaan Jain’s debut film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, Esha spoke to the media and said; “I have been misquoted. I did tell my father not to watch Humshakals because Chakravyuh was his favourite film as he is from the defence background.”
It’s not clear why she would ask her dad not to watch her comedy flick just because she had played a serious role before that. Did she consider this role as unworthy? We can only speculate.
“I am still with Humshakals and have not disowned it. I am very proud and happy that I did the film. Next time Sajid (Khan) will do even better,” the 28-year-old said.
Actress Bipasha Basu, who also plays a role in the Humshakals, had dissociated herself from the film even before its release. Because she was reportedly unhappy with way her role shaped up in the project.
Esha’s statement had created quite a furor.
Sajid Khan directorial Humshakals received bad reviews from critics but still managed to do good box office earning.
It featured Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor in triple roles. Tamannaah Bhatia also stars in the film as the third female lead.
