Delhi Court restrains Sanjay Leela Bhansali from using ‘Ram-Leela’ title

With under 72 hours to go for the launch of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Ram-Leela, a city court restrained the makers from using the title, sources said. A representative suit was submitted by 3 organizations against the launch of the movie on Monday. 2 individuals are also planning to join the petition.

The suit has been submitted against the director and maker of the film Ram-Leela, Sanjay Leela Bhansali; the production company, Eros International Media Limited; and the Central Board of Film Certification, which granted the movie a UA certificate on November 1. The movie is based on Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet and is sub-titled “Goliyon ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela”.

As per sources, Additional District Judge A S Jayachandra on Tuesday heard arguments on behalf of the petitioners and issued an “ex-parte ad-interim stay” against the using the title Ram-Leela while releasing the film on November 14.
