Bengali Film Director Anjan Das Passed Away

Popular Bengali filmmaker Anjan Das, who has won National Award for the related category, passed away following illness, according to his family.


Anjan Das is best known for his film like Rupkathara, Faltu, Saanjhbatir and Achin Pakhi.

He was suffering liver cancer in hospital.

Anjan’s 2006 film ‘Faltu’ which featured Soumitra Chatterjee and Indrani Halder had won the National Award for the best feature film on welfare.

Most of his films were adapted from literature.

The filmmaker had won international critical acclaim with Saanjhbatir Rupkathara (2011) a celluloid adaptation of poet Joy Goswami’s.

Anjan’s 2004 film ‘Iti Srikanta’ had bagged the National Award for Best Audiography.
