Rajinikanth will give his voice as play-back singer in his forthcoming movie Kochadaiyaan opposite Deepika Padukone. The movie, which has designed a lot of hype ever since it was announced a while back, will have Rajini record a song composed by A.R. Rahman.
Reportedly, Rajinikanth was initially not willing to sing in the movie and it took some convincing by A.R. Rahman and Rajini’s daughter Soundarya, who’s directing the movie, to make him accept the concept. Incidentally, Rajini’s idea to sing comes in the wake of his son-in-law Dhanush’s ‘Kolaveri di’ becoming a worldwide craze.
The Kochadaiyaan song will have A.R. Rahman crooning along with Rajini. It’s been written by Vairamuthu, regarded as among the leading lyricists in Tamil cinema. While not many information about the song have come out, it’s been known that the number is not a typical filmy track but has a few traditional overtones.
In his career, Rajinikanth has sung only once before. He recorded a number, ‘Adikuthu kuluru’, for a Tamil movie known as Mannan that launched in 1992.
